Regulation of a polyamine transporter by the conserved 3′ UTR-derived sRNA SorX confers resistance to singlet oxygen and organic hydroperoxides in Rhodobacter sphaeroides.
The study identifies potA as a direct target of the sRNA SorX, which regulates resistance to organic hydroperoxides in Rhodobacter sphaeroides. SorX binds to the Shine-Dalgarno sequence of potA mRNA, leading to reduced translation and increased sensitivity to organic hydroperoxides when potA is deleted.
