Azithromycin resistance mutations in Streptococcus pneumoniae as revealed by a chemogenomic screen.
The study identifies mutations in the 23S rRNA and ribosomal protein L4 as key contributors to azithromycin resistance in Streptococcus pneumoniae. Additionally, mutations in genes involved in glutamine metabolism, such as glnPQ and glnR, were found to contribute to resistance.
