Key Findings

The study identifies the avrPphB and xerC genes located on the PPHGI-1 genomic island in Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola. These genes are shown to be downregulated when the island is excised and exists as a circular episome, leading to reduced fluorescence in genetically modified strains.
