Key Findings

The study identified seven novel variants of the staphylococcal chromosomal cassette mec (SCC mec) in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates from Ireland. These variants include SCC mec IIA, IIB, IIC, IID, IIE, IVE, and IVF, which exhibit distinct genomic structures and differences in the mec complex and associated regions.
