Key Findings
The study identified a new TEM-derived extended-spectrum beta-lactamase, TEM-144, which confers resistance to ceftazidime. This enzyme differs from TEM-1 by two mutations (R164C and E240K) and from TEM-91 by one mutation (T182M).
