Key Findings
The study reports the first identification of CTX-M-14-like and CTX-M-27-like extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) belonging to the CTX-M-9 group in Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli isolated from neonatal stool in India. The blaCTX-M-9 group was found to be transferable via plasmids, and blaCTX-M-15 was identified as the predominant ESBL gene among the isolates.
