The study identifies four novel putative colistin resistance genes (A1S_1983, hepA, A1S_3026, and rsfS) and confirms the role of pmrB, lpxC, lpxA, and lpxD mutations in colistin resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii. Compensatory mutations partially or completely restored the fitness of LPS-deficient mutants.
