Key Findings
The study identified bla CTX-M-15, bla CTX-M-27, and bla CTX-M-14 as the most prevalent extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) genes in ESBL-producing E. coli isolates from Malawi and Uganda. Additionally, mutations in pmrB (E123D and Y358N) were found to confer resistance to colistin.
